TRAIN CHUGS BACK IN KASHMIR VALLEY AFTER COVID BREAK OF 11 MONTHS

Northern railways after the assessment of the situation post coronavirus lockdown has resumed the train services in Kashmir valley from Banihal the gateway of Kashmir to Baramulla in North Kashmir.

Hundreds of people were seen going to the different railway stations on Monday in Kashmir valley to avail this service as it is not time consuming and also economical.

Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has said that the resumption of railway services within the Kashmir valley will enhance ease of movement and provide a big boost to the growing tourism in the current season.

Goyal tweeted about the resumption of rail services in Kashmir and said in his tweet, “Railways to resume train operations in Kashmir Valley on Banihal-Baramulla section from 22nd February, with two services operating initially”.

It is in place to mention that rail services were first suspended on August 5, 2019, and resumed briefly for some weeks when the authorities in Kashmir valley decided to suspend the services on March 25, 2020, due to the growing threat of coronavirus.
