A new intelligence report says that terrorist organisations operating in Kashmir have come up with a new trick to avoid being tracked by security forces. They are now going for a minimal mobile phone usage and are being encouraged to instead use physical intelligence. The ISI has also directed them to use overground workers to keep an eye on security forces and their movement.

The manner in which a large number of terrorists have been eliminated in the Valley under “Operation All Out” has forced the ISI and Pakistan-based terrorist outfits to change their way of working. Terrorist organisations like Lashkar, Jaish, Hizbul have also been instructed to work together, the intel report says.

In recent times, the security forces have had great success against terrorist outfits operating in the Valley. The way the security agencies are now using technology to get hold of terror messages on telecommunication devices, has forced terrorists to shun mobile phones and instead rely on physical intelligence.

A senior intelligence agency official told The Daily Guardian that terrorist outfits are now again using mobile technology less. According to them, between 2018 and June 2021, many big terrorists have been eliminated through technical surveillance, since then terrorist outfits have changed their way of sending messages.

Now they have stationed their agents on the National Highway and other routes within a radius of 10-12 km. Agents sitting in the garb of tyre-puncture mechanics provide information about the movement of Security forces.

A truck carrying arms or ammunition is assigned a code word. As soon as the truck driver gives that code to the puncture mechanic, he provides him further information. To counter this, security agencies began strengthening their own human intelligence.

All this came to light when a truck driver was caught with arms and ammunition and taken for further questioning at the Kaluchak Police Station, the military cantonment of Jammu. He turned out to be a terrorist and identified himself as a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

He said that the arms and ammunition had come from Pakistan. He was asked to stand in the border area of Samba. They handed over pistols, magazines and some cartridges to the truck driver. These weapons were to be delivered to Pulwama district of South Kashmir.

To counter this, security agencies have also deployed their soldiers along the road. They are in plain clothes, so that no one suspects them. Jammu and Kashmir Police has a good intelligence network. According to the information available with the intelligence agencies, these terrorist organisations are going to try to send weapons in and across the Valley through the same codeword, on which the security forces are keeping a close watch.

According to the intelligence agency, sporadic incidents of terrorism-related violence have been reported in the Valley, but the situation is now under control. A large number of terrorists have been killed. The security forces are strictly dealing with groups like The Resistance Front (TRF) and People›s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF). Both these organisations are branches of Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
