MISSING GIRL FOUND DEAD ON GOA BEACH, POLICE RULE OUT SEXUAL ASSAULT

Panaji: Earlier on Thursday, 12th August, the dead body of a 19 year-old girl, in a semi-clad state, was found at the popular Calangute beach. As per reports, the deceased was a resident of the Nachinola village in North Goa and was missing since Wednesday morning and a missing complaint was also filed by her father in a local police station.

Regarding the case, Shobhit Saksena, SP North Goa, told The Daily Guardian that as soon as the Calangute police station was informed about the matter, the police had taken the dead body to the hospital and the body was identified by the family members. A postmortem examination was soon conducted and the report revealed that there was no sort of an indication of an assault and the cause of death was due to drowning.

“There were no injury marks on her body and the angle of a sexual assault was ruled out through the report”, added the SP.

Talking about steps taken by the Goa police to curb crimes around the state, he said that the police personnel were assuring that all the crimes which were committed were registered and reported to them. Once registered, the police was also working on their detection. “We have a very high rate of detection of criminal cases which is a sign of good policing”, mentioned Saksena.

He further added how the police were working on the prevention of crimes by recently inducting a fleet of new vehicles which were given for round the clock patrolling everywhere. Action against those who were flouting Covid-19 norms was also being taken.

“In all, Goa police is alert and is working on all the crimes registered and are doing their best to prevent crimes”, the North Goa SP said.

Meanwhile, taking to Twitter, Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai criticized the Goa state government and said that Goa did not have a Home Minister but instead had a walking and talking disaster who held that post by virtue of servility to his Delhi masters. “By shamelessly endorsing him, every @BJP4Goa worker, MLA and minister has betrayed #Goa, and is complicit in making it a criminal’s heaven”, Sardesai added.
