The political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir is undergoing a transformative shift as the age-old politics of the Muftis and Abdullahs faces clear rejection, declared Tarun Chugh, the National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and party incharge for Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and Ladakh. Speaking at a gathering, Chugh highlighted the emergence of a new environment in the region, propelled by the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting, attended by senior party leaders, delved into extensive discussions on upcoming election strategies. Chugh underscored the rejection of traditional political practices by parties such as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the National Conference (NC), marking a paradigm shift in the region’s political dynamics.
Pointing to tangible improvements under BJP rule, Chugh cited operational schools, the absence of disruptive strike calls, and uninterrupted internet services as indicators of progress. He contrasted these positive changes with the practices observed during the reign of the NC and PDP.

Chugh also highlighted the transformation in political discourse following the Supreme Court’s verdict on Article 370, noting that parties leveraging this issue for political gain are now bereft of such a platform. Urging voters to recall historical events, such as the use of pellet guns, he emphasized the need for accountability.
