‘NERVOUS’ MAMATA APPEALS TO VOTERS AHEAD OF BHABANIPUR BYPOLLS

‘The defeat at Nandigram to Subhendu Adhikari has proved that Mamata Banerjee is not invincible’.

With voting for Bhabanipur bypolls approaching, Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee is not able to be completely worry-free. This, despite the fact that this fight should not be too difficult for her, as she knows the “soil of Bhabanipur” very intimately. Even so, she went to campaign there on Wednesday and told voters, “If you don’t vote, I will lose; you won’t get me anymore.”

In Bhabanipur, BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal is standing against Mamata. Tibrewal has also been campaigning in Bhabanipur and people seem to be listening to her. And this has led Mamata Banerjee to be worried and under some “nervous pressure”; especially as the defeat at Nandigram to Subhendu Adhikari has proved that Mamata Banerjee is not invincible.

According to political analysts, the Chief Minister is more worried as, if she wants to retain the post of Chief Minister, she has to win in Bhabanipur. The political scenario in Bhabanipur is completely different from that in Nandigram. Priyanka Tibrewal is not a big face like Subhendu Adhikari. But Mamata Banerjee is still “respecting” the BJP candidate. For one thing, if Mamata Banerjee has to go and sit on the 14th floor of Nabanna, the Nandigram fate cannot be allowed to repeat in this by-election.

And that is the reason why Mamata Banerjee has been repeatedly requesting voters that even if it rained, or if the weather was bad, no one should stay at home—no one should think that Mamata Banerjee will win even if they can’t vote. In other words, Mamata Banerjee is giving extra importance to every vote.

It is to be noted that Priyanka Tibrewal, who is fighting against Mamata Banerjee, is putting a lot of pressure on the Trinamool supremo, though she is an unknown face in the polls. Mamata Banerjee had allegedly not mentioned all the information in her poll affidavit, including how many cases are pending against her.
