Newly-elected Vice President of Nepal, Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy on Monday, 20 March at 10 am, local time, the President’s Office announced.

As per a statement given by President office of Nepal, the oath-taking ceremony will be held at 10 am on Monday at the President’s residence, Sheetal Niwas. For those unversed, Yadav was elected as the Vice-President on 17 March. During the vice-presidential election, he secured around 30,328 votes.

The tenure of Nepal’s former Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun ended on 18 March.

On Sunday, the Election Commission submitted a report with the results of the Vice-Presidential election to President Ram Chandra Paudel. Yadav, who is selected as third vice president of Nepal begins his political journey in 1990 with Nepal Sadbhawana Party.

He is also known as the founding general secretary of the Madhesi Jana Adhikar Forum. He is widely known for his active role in the first Madhesh Movement. Adhikar started his parliamentary career in the first Constituent Assembly back in 2008.
