On Monday, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) successfully rescued seven fishermen stranded in Hinglaj village, located in Gujarat’s Valsad district, due to heavy rainfall and a high tide in the Auranga River. The rescue operation took place early in the morning.

Inspector Ramesh Kumar of the NDRF reported, “We received information from the district administration about seven individuals stranded in Hinglaj village because of continuous rainfall and the high tide in the Auranga River. The river’s water had reached the nearby low-lying areas. The stranded individuals are fishermen who had no option but to evacuate due to the rising water levels. We have successfully rescued them,” he told ANI.

Several districts in Gujarat, including Valsad, have experienced heavy rains in recent days. On Saturday, waterlogging severely disrupted daily activities in various parts of Vapi, Valsad. Additionally, on August 2, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted rain and thundershowers in several parts of Gujarat for the next five days.

Previously, amid ongoing torrential rains in the state, Gujarat’s Navsari district faced severe waterlogging, prompting the NDRF to evacuate residents from the flooded areas. The NDRF team rescued five individuals, including a child and an ailing woman, from Mithila Nagari in Navsari. Overall, at least 30 people were evacuated from the flood-affected areas. In response to the deluge-like conditions, Navsari Municipality prepared 20,000 food packets for those stranded in the city.
