In a tragic series of events on Friday, Uttar Pradesh witnessed two severe road accidents resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.

Double-Decker Bus Collision on Lucknow-Agra Expressway

A double-decker bus traveling from Lucknow to Delhi collided with a water tanker on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, leading to the deaths of six individuals and injuring at least 19 others. The incident occurred near the Auraiya border in Kannauj district. Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar stated, “Today, a bus and a water tanker collided on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway. The bus was traveling from Lucknow to Delhi. Police reached the spot as soon as we received the information. Eight people have died in the incident, and 14 injured individuals are undergoing treatment.” District Magistrate Shubhrant Kumar Shukla, SP Amit Kumar, and Tirwa MLA Kailash Rajput were present at the scene, overseeing rescue operations. The injured were promptly admitted to Saifai Medical College for treatment.

Fatal Accident in Chitrakoot

Earlier the same day, around 5:00-5:30 am, a vehicle carrying 11 passengers collided with a truck near Raipura police station in Chitrakoot district. The passengers were returning from Prayagraj after immersing a family member’s ashes. Chitrakoot Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh reported, “At around 5:00-5:30 am, a car collided with a truck near Raipura police station. The accident happened as the car, carrying 11 passengers, was returning after immersing the ashes of a family member. The family belonged to Chhatarpur and was traveling from Prayagraj. It appears the car driver may have fallen asleep. Five occupants of the vehicle were injured, and six of them have died.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in both accidents and directed officials to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured. He also instructed authorities to conduct thorough investigations into the causes of both accidents to prevent such incidents in the future.
