Urges UP CM Yogi Adityanath to provide compensation with open heart.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is also the newly appointed Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on Friday met the families of the victims of the Hathras stampede and urged Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to help the families with open heart as they need it more.
He also said that there was inadequate arrangements at the site. The stampede that took place on July 2 claimed the lives of 121 people and left 31 injured.

On Friday morning, Rahul Gandhi left from the national capital and his first stop was Pilakhna village in Aligarh, where he offered condolences to the relatives of the four victims from the village who lost their lives in the stampede.

After interacting with the victims’ families, Rahul Gandhi said, “A lot of families have been affected. I don’t want to speak from a political prism but there have been some lapses on the part of the administration. I think they should get more compensation as these are very poor families.”

He also urged Yogi Adityanath to give more compensation to the victims’ families. He said, “I request the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to provide compensation open-heartedly. They need it now, and more compensation should be given as soon as possible. The family members said that the police arrangement was not enough.”

He also said that his conversation with the family members was very personal as they told him about their children, their fathers and mothers and what they did and they told me that there qas inadequate arrangements.

This was the first visit of a senior Opposition leader to Aligarh and Hathras since the stampede took place on July 2.

Congress party’s Uttar Pradesh President Ajai Rai, in-charge Avinash Pande, party spokesperson Supriya Shrinate, Shaharanpur MP Imran Masood, party leader Danish Ali and other office bearers accompanied Rahul Gandhi during the visit.

From Aligarh, Rahul Gandhi them moved to Hathras, where the tragedy occurred, to interact with aggrieved families.

The stampede occurred on the evening of July 2 at a satsang of religious preacher Suraj Pal, also known as Narayan Sakar Hari and Bhole Baba.

An FIR has been registered in the incident, naming the organizers of the event.

The preacher has not been named, however, six organisers have been arrested so far in the case.
