Amid preparations for forthcoming assembly polls in Haryana, political leaders across party lines are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the longevity of their political dynasties. In terms of dynastic politics, Haryana could very well be the national capital. All eyes are on prominent political families and their youngest members who are trying their luck in state politics.
Kuldeep Bishnoi has recently become active in Haryana’s political corridors, holding several meetings with senior party leaders in Delhi. Bishnoi was believed to join the BJP after being assured of a political future for his son Bhavya. According to sources, Bishnoi is also seeking a ministerial post for Bhavya, having explained that this move will also benefit the BJP in the forthcoming Assembly and Parliamentary polls in Rajasthan as the Bishnoi community wields influence over many seats in the state. Bishnoi is also set to hold a rally each in Haryana and Rajasthan in a show of strength. He has also assured the Bishnoi community of his efforts to ensure that they will be included in the OBC category.
Likewise, Congress stalwart and former Haryana CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda is lobbying to strengthen his son Deepender’s standing in the state. Deepender Singh Hooda is a current Rajya Sabha MP, was fielded on a Congress ticket in the previous elections but failed to meet expectations, losing out to the BJP. Another Congress veteran, Kiran Chaudhary, is a big name in state politics and carries forward the political legacy of former Chief Minister Bansi Lal. Her long-standing rivalry with Hooda has weakened her position in the party to some extent. Chaudhary has served as a minister several times while her daughter Shruti has been a Member of Parliament.
