Political ambitions of AAP fall flat, Kejriwal tumbles into his own ditch

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s problems and situation doesn’t seem to end anytime soon. It seems that Delhi CM has fallen in his own pitfall and landed up behind the bars at Tihar jail.

Despite, this situation his reluctance in submitting his resignation may come with a massive price. Experts believe that, it is completely impossible and unconstitutional to run the government from jail looking at the limitations and regulations the jail imposes on the prisoners.

It is highly probable that if the central government desires, it can dismiss Delhi government and implement President’s rule. Should this occur, it could potentially lead to downfall of Kejriwal and his AAP party, who rose to power through a movement a decade ago. Despite launching a campaign against corruption, Kejriwal found himself entangled in allegations of corruption, ultimately leading to his downfall within a decade.

The rise of Arvind kejriwal dates back to the protest led by Anna Hazare in 2012-2013 which had a significant impact as it had become a massive movement. Hazare who staged a dharna in Delhi, demanding a Lokpal to keep a check on corruption under the Congress-led UPA government. It is alleged that Hazare’s participation in the dharna was created and crafted by supporters of the Congress party. It’s believed that this plan was devised to weaken Baba Ramdev’s fight against corruption. Kejriwal also supported Hazare in this movement.

Coincidentally, a new era of politics began in the country when, the Nirbhaya incident happened at the same time and the ministers of the Manmohan government could not handle the movement, thereby setting the current against the congress party. Such an environment was created that the Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years, was out of power and was marginalised to 44 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

The incessant mistakes committed by congress helped movement take a huge form. Apart from this, Ramdev’s decision to forcibly end the movement also backfired. Back then, Kejriwal had accused ruling congress party and its leaders as thieves and Corrupt.

Kejriwal began the trend of offering freebies in politics to gain popularity. Initially, he aimed for honest politics and focused on Delhi. However, as his ambitions grew, he expanded his party beyond Delhi. Despite initially surrounding himself with like-minded individuals, he eventually prioritized his own interests. Despite previously advocating for a modest lifestyle, he later became embroiled in controversies over his focus on comfort and facilities. After a smooth first term, he transitioned into a professional politician and began contesting elections in various states, requiring significant funds. This led to allegations of corruption, including involvement in a liquor scam that resulted in his imprisonment. While this was his first time when he was jailed, it added to a list of controversies, including involvement in medicine scams, water board scams, DTC issues, and questionable donations during the Punjab elections.

One of Kejriwal’s ministers, Satyendra Jain, first went to jail in the hawala case, then Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, then MP Sanjay Singh is in jail in the liquor scam.

The statement that Arvind Kejriwal gave before the investigating agencies before going to jail today, has brought Minister Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj has also come under scanner. He stated that, the main accused Vijay Nair used to live in the house of Minister Kailash Gehlot and report to Atishi and Saurabh.

ED submitted Kejriwal’s statement in the court, making the pointer move towards Atishi and Saurabh who too shall be investigated. So afr, these two have shouldered the responsibility to raise their voice for the CM and are leading the movement. There is a speculation that despite being in custody, Kejriwal engaged in politics to potentially facilitate his wife Sunita’s path to power. With senior leaders being imprisoned, if Sunita assumes authority, decision-making might become smoother for her. Kejriwal’s actions are seen as an attempt to evoke sympathy, yet there is a risk that this strategy may not succeed as planned and anticipated.
