Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha on September 17 to launch the ‘Subhadra Yojana,’ a major women-centric initiative. BJP MP Sambit Patra announced on Sunday that the first installment of the scheme will be released on the same day, benefitting around 1 crore 30 lakh women.
Patra stated that this initiative aligns with PM Modi’s election promise, where he had assured that if the BJP formed the government, every woman in Odisha would receive Rs 50,000 over five years. “The process begins on September 17, with each woman receiving the first installment of Rs 5,000 under the Subhadra Yojana,” Patra said.
The Odisha government has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area on September 17, in preparation for PM Modi’s visit. The Prime Minister will launch the Subhadra Yojana, Odisha’s flagship scheme, in Bhubaneswar.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Subhadra Yojana aims to support over 1 crore women aged between 21 and 60, who will receive Rs 50,000 over five years from 2024-2029.
In addition to the launch of Subhadra Yojana, PM Modi will release the first installment of assistance to nearly 13 lakh beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) across 14 states. He will also participate in ‘Griha Pravesh’ ceremonies for 26 lakh beneficiaries of PMAY (both Gramin and Urban) nationwide.
The Prime Minister will hand over keys to the beneficiaries and launch the Awaas+ 2024 app, which will be used for surveying additional households under PMAY-G. Additionally, he will introduce the operational guidelines for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0.
This event marks a significant step in the government’s ongoing commitment to improving the livelihoods of women and providing housing support under the PMAY schemes.
