Marathon Security Meeting: Amit Shah Pushes ‘Zero Terror Plan’ For Jammu

The meeting focused on intensifying security measures and replicating successful strategies from the Kashmir Valley in the Jammu division.

Shah directed security agencies to adopt the effective ‘area domination plan’ and ‘zero terror plan’ to combat the escalating threat of terrorism in the region. He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among security forces to ensure swift responses and proactive counter-terrorism operations.

The meeting, held at North Block and attended by key officials including National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, comes amidst heightened tensions after recent terrorist incidents. These incidents included attacks in Reasi, Kathua, and Doda districts, resulting in casualties among pilgrims and security personnel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier instructed officials to deploy comprehensive counter-terror capabilities following these attacks, which included a fatal assault on a bus carrying pilgrims. The upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra, scheduled from June 29 to August 19, adds urgency to bolster security measures in the volatile region.

Authorities have announced enhanced security protocols for pilgrims this year, including RFID tracking cards and insurance coverage, underscoring efforts to ensure a safe pilgrimage amidst security challenges.

The developments underscore a robust response from the government to address security threats and maintain stability in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of significant religious events and amidst ongoing security challenges in the region.
