KT Rama Rao: Hyderabad May Be Declared as Union Territory Post June 2

BRS’s acting president, KT Rama Rao, suggested the likelihood of the BJP-led government designating Hyderabad as a union territory post June 2. The 10-year term for Hyderabad serving as the joint capital for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, concludes this year. Rama Rao indicated that the Congress might support this move.

He emphasized that the BRS, with sufficient parliamentary representation, could oppose such actions effectively. Rama Rao also highlighted the BJP’s purported plans to eliminate SC/ST reservations with a two-thirds majority in Parliament and divert Godavari water from Telangana under the guise of river linking. Therefore, he stressed the importance of electing more BRS MPs to counteract these potential developments.

Responding to allegations of a BRS-BJP alliance, Rama Rao questioned why the BJP had imprisoned MLC K Kavitha if such a deal existed. He credited the BRS for defeating BJP candidates in recent elections and accused Revanth Reddy of supporting BJP interests by fielding dummy candidates. Rama Rao also highlighted statements made by various politicians regarding the BRS’s electoral prospects.
