A National Workshop-cum-Training program under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was organized by Victory against Drug Abuse (VADA) club and NSS of the Government College of Education, Sector 20D, Chandigarh in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration. On the occasion, Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal of the college & patron of the event extended a formal welcome to all the esteemed guests of the event.

The occasion was graced by Sorabh Kumar Arora, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Election Department, Chandigarh as the Chief Guest. Guests of Honor were Naveen Rattu, (DANICS), SDM (South)-cum-Joint Director, Social Welfare and Dr. Palika Arora, PCS, Director Social Welfare, Women and Child Development Department, Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh.

During the workshop, the keynote speaker of the day was Sh. Jaideep Arya, Chairperson, Yoga Aayog Haryana/ Chief Central Coordinator, Patanjali Yoga Peeth, Haridwar. He spoke on the theme of “youth and yoga: a power prevention combination for substance risk”. Other resource persons for different sessions were Dr. Devender Kumar Rana, Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology, Department of Psychiatry, PGIMER, Chandigarh; Sh Anil from Alcohol Anonymous Organization; Pankaj Mahajan, National Motivational Speaker & State Icon Ms. Samaira Sandhu, Actor, Model, Philanthropist as the brand ambassador of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign. Special guests present Mr. Rahul Mahajan and Prabjot Kaur Atwal. Dr. Ravneet Chawla, VADA club in charge and NSS Program Officer of the college introduced the concept of substance indulgence among youth.

During the event, a recipe book entitled “Magic Millets” was released by the guests and winners of poster making competition on Drug Abuse under VADA club were felicitated. The workshop concluded with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan pledge taken by 275 participants including faculty members and guests. To mark this event, aromatic plants were planted in the college premises by the honorable guests.

Dr. Pallika Arora, Director Social Welfare, Women and Child Development Department, Chandigarh Administration extended a formal vote of thanks to the guests and all for the success of the workshop.
