TDP president and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu slammed the Jaganmohan Reddy Government for “illegally arresting” TDP MLC M Ravindranath Reddy (BTech Ravi) in Chennai. Mr Naidu said that BTech Ravi was arrested only because he exposed the state government’s failure to nab the accused in the murder of a Dalit woman in Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s assembly constituency in Kadapa district.
In a statement, the TDP chief said that the TDP MLC has been wrongfully arrested a month after the rape and murder of the SC woman in Pulivendula and shows yet another instance of the Chief Minister›s intolerance and vindictive attitude. Instead of nabbing the culprits in the murder case, the police are making false arrests of the TDP leaders who exposed the government›s failure, he claimed.
Naidu explained that the TDP Kadapa leaders were being harassed and persecuted just because they took out ‘Chalo Pulivendula’ protests against the government regarding the murder issue. False cases have been filed and false arrests made against TDP leaders ever since. BTech Ravi›s arrest marked the peak of political vengeance unleashed by the YSRCP rule, said Naidu.
The TDP chief also questioned why the police didn›t yet take action in the rape and murder case. “The atrocities cases filed against the SC and ST persons were in utter violation of the laws. The Rule of Law was totally suppressed and false cases were being filed against the victims in the atrocities cases. The TDP leaders were being punished just for the sake of going to the rescue of the poor victims,” he said.
Naidu has called upon all sections of Andhra Pradesh to condemn the alleged atrocities and also the ruthless indifference of the Jagan Reddy government. A sad situation is prevailing in Andhra Pradesh now that the perpetrators of atrocities are holding their heads high and moving around freely without fear of the law, he stated.
