Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda released the party’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ (manifesto) for forthcoming Rajasthan assembly polls in Jaipur on Thursday.
During this, BJP national president JP Nadda, along with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, Rajasthan BJP President CP Joshi, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Vasundhara Raje, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Satish Poonia, and others, were present on the occasion. The Sankalp Patra has been named ‘Aapano Agranee Rajasthan Sankalp Patr 2003’ (our leading Rajasthan manifesto).
The Sankalp Patra promises to provide LPG cylinders for Rs 450 each to Ujjawala scheme beneficiaries, 2.5 lakh government jobs in five years and increase the financial assistance to farmers under the PM-Kisan scheme.
The party’s manifesto outlines several key resolutions aimed at improving the lives of citizens:
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi: The party plans to increase the financial assistance provided to farmers under this scheme to Rs 12,000 per year.
Laho Incentive Scheme: This scheme aims to support poor families by providing a savings bond at the birth of their daughters. The bond will mature over time, providing Rs 26,000 in class 6, Rs 18,000 in class 9, Rs 10,000 in class 10, Rs 12,000 in class 11, Rs 14,000 in class 12, Rs 50,000 in the first and last year of vocational courses, and a lump sum of Rs 1 lakh at the age of 21.
Direct Benefit Transfer: Economically weaker families’ students will receive annual assistance of Rs 1,200 to purchase school bags, books, and uniforms.
Bhamashah Health Infrastructure Mission: The party plans to invest Rs 40,000 crores in this mission, which aims to expand and modernise health infrastructure. In addition to this, the appointment of 15,000 doctors and 20,000 paramedical staff will also be provided under this scheme.
Special Investigation Team: The party plans to form a team to quickly investigate paper leak cases and take strict action against the culprits.
lease, BJP National President JP Nadda emphasised the party’s commitment to its manifesto, contrasting it with other parties for whom, he claimed, the manifesto is merely a formality.
Rajasthan Economic Revival Task Force: The party said in the manifesto that it is committed to making Rajasthan a 350 billion dollar economy. In the manifesto, the party also promised to set up the Rajasthan Economic Revival Task Force for the revival of the state economy. “We will make Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Bharatpur, Jodhpur and Bikaner smart cities in collaboration with the central government,” the manifesto said.
Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project: The manifesto also promises the completion of the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) in a time-bound manner in collaboration with the Centre. The Congress has been demanding national project status for the ERCP which was envisaged by the former BJP government to address irrigation and drinking water problems in 13 eastern Rajasthan districts.
Other promises relating to minority and OBC welfare: For minority welfare, the party announced land allotment for ‘Chaturmas’ related events of Jain monks and adequate police protection, conservation and development of historical Sikh religious places, CM Sharnarthi Kalyan Yojna for Hindu migrants, colonies for Hindu migrants in Jodhpur whose houses were demolished by the Congress government and subsidised loans to start business, scholarship for school and college students.
For OBC welfare, the party promised the distribution of OBC certificates in a time-bound manner, collateral-free education loans up to Rs 15 lakh and a welfare board to redress problems. Various other announcements for tribal welfare, street hawkers and gig workers, auto drivers, SC and ST welfare, were also made.
Nadda: Manifesto is a roadmap for development.
BJP national president JP Nadda asserted that for the BJP, the manifesto serves as a roadmap for development. He said, “I would like to say that for other parties, the manifesto is just a formality. But for the BJP, it’s a roadmap for development. So this ‘Sankalp Patra’ is not just words written on the page, but we are committed to fulfilling these sentences… Our history is the proof that we did whatever we said.”
The BJP President criticised the performance of the Congress Party over the past five years and highlighted several areas of concern. He pointed out issues such as corruption, disrespect towards women, neglect of farmers, high electricity rates, and high VAT on petrol and diesel.
“I want to clear out the differences between the BJP and Congress… The Congress Party became known for five things in five years. These are corruption, the disrespect of women, and neglected farmers. This is the state where the rate of electricity is highest and petrol and diesel have the highest VAT. The number of paper leaks that happened here has broken records,” BJP national president JP Nadda said.
Nadda also alleged that in the name of “pseudo-secularism”, bulldozers were run on religious places of some people. He claimed that those who raised slogans like ‘sar tan se juda’ – threatening beheading – were encouraged. The apparent reference was to the murder of a Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal for allegedly insulting Islam. The BJP chief charged that the Congress made new records in corruption and scams and that the family of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot got contracts.
Outreach program conducted across the state, suggestions received for more than Rs 1 crore: Meghwal
Sankalp Patra Committee convener and Union Law Minister Arjunram Meghwal said, “After the announcement of the Sankalp Patra Committee on August 17, an outreach program was run in the state. A roadmap for the next five years has been prepared by taking more than one crore suggestions from all sections of the state, a double engine government will be formed for all-round development in the state and will fulfil all the announcements of the manifesto.”
Letter of resolution of people’s sentiments: Joshi
BJP State President CP Joshi said, “A resolution letter has been prepared based on the sentiments of the people of Rajasthan. In this, work will be done on the theme of developed and dynamic Rajasthan. Women will get security and youth and farmers will be respected. The dreams of the youth will take flight. All sections have been taken care of in the manifestos.”
BJP’s election in-charge for Rajasthan and union minister Pralhad Joshi, BJP in charge for Rajasthan Arun Singh, state president CP Joshi, former chief minister Vasundhara Raje and other leaders were present during the release of the manifesto.
Rajasthan is set to undergo assembly polls on November 25 and the counting of votes will be done on December 3.
The BJP won 163 seats in the 2013 Legislative Assembly elections and formed the government in Rajasthan. In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress won 99 seats, while the BJP won 73 seats in the 200-member House.
Gehlot eventually took the oath as the Chief Minister with the support of Bahujan Samaj Party MLAs and Independents.
