Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president J.P. Nadda started his first election campaign address from Gaya in poll-bound Bihar. He applauded the JD(U)-BJP government›s work to bring progressive change in different sectors including health and welfare, farming and education. He also praised the Bihar Chief Minister for his strategy to tackle the Covid-19 crisis in the state.

“Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took care of people during the Covid-19 crisis. His government also provided financial assistance to those outside Bihar,” said the BJP chief at the Gaya rally. Nadda also assured the people of Bihar that NDA will form the government in the state with Nitish Kumar as CM.

Nadda also took a shot at Congress and blamed the party for indulging in caste and religion-based politics in the state. “Congress used to do politics on the basis of caste and religion. But Modiji brought change. Go to people with the report card of your work, show them the work that has been done. In the last five years, the Modi government has done a lot of work in the fields of education, skill development, farmers’ welfare and health,” he said.

“Prime Minister Modi has given Rs 3,094 crore for farmers, Rs 10,000 crore for education, Rs 1,550 crore for education, Rs 10,000 crore for health, Rs 16,000 crore for electricity and Rs 13,000 crore for road construction,” he added.

“NDA’s 15 years of government has completed a grand journey of development. Now it is our responsibility to take the process of development forward. The leadership of India is secure in the hands of PM Modi and now the need is to keep the leadership of Bihar also in the secure hands of Nitish Kumar,” Nadda said further. The BJP chief started his campaign in Bihar by visiting Patna’s Mahavir temple along with the state’s deputy chief minister, Sushil Modi, to seek blessings.

Nadda also visited JP Awaas in Patna to mark the birth anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan and paid a floral tribute at his statue. He said, “It is a great honour for me to get an opportunity to visit the residence of the great leader JP Narayan. When I was in college, JP Andolan was going on. His call to protect democracy during the emergency period in 1975 had brought a new revolution.”

Nadda also hit out at the Bihar election Grand Alliance by saying, “One who became a politician and three-time CM with the blessings of Jayaprakash Narayan, the man who formed the Janata Party by sidelining the Congress, is now hugging the Congress and going ahead.”

The BJP national president was on a day-long visit to Bihar to strategise his party’s poll campaign. Earlier, he had landed in Patna on a special plane and was given a rousing welcome by party workers.
