Saweety Boora is hungry for medals and has become even more motivated after becoming the world champion. Until recently, an Olympic medal was her dream, but now, after becoming the world champion in the light heavyweight category, her dream is to win Olympic gold. That’s why she says she just married another big dream that has been fulfilled. She is impatient for the fulfilment of her first big dream. This is Saweety Boora’s second medal at the World Championship. Before this, she won the silver medal nine years ago in the city of Jeju, Korea. Apart from this, she has a trio of medals from the Asian Championship. Sweety acknowledges that last year’s Asian Championship in Amman, where she won the gold medal, was the turning point of her career. Since then, she has never looked back. She claims that her thinking has shifted as a result of her success. Now, it keeps wandering through her mind that she will give her 100% in any competition and raise the flag of her country.
Saweety has a tough fight with boxers from Australia and Canada this time. She says that she has fought against these two boxers before. A Canadian boxer was also a world champion, but all these things had no effect on her. Her punches were landing very well in the area. Although she agrees that the Canadian boxer seemed physically stronger than her, she had no fear of losing to her. She was confident about her victory. This confidence helped her in the match against her.
Saweety says that her father has been a basketball player and her husband has captained the Indian Kabaddi team. At some point, she also played Kabaddi. She used to believe that players must come from a sporting environment, and it doesn’t matter if you come from a different environment. Something good should be in mind, and there should be a determination to do it. She has also seen bad times, from Olympic qualifying trials to defeat in the finals of the National Games, but now she is in better days. She doesn’t want to remember those bad times, even though they were heartbreaking.
Saweety says in a slightly philosophical way that difficulties in life make you stronger. She thinks that God did this to make her strong. Recalling her light moments, Saweety says that when she and Deepakji got married, he went to camp for the Pro Kabaddi League, and so did she. The boxing camp was on. They could not meet for six months after the marriage. When they finally met after the camp, they mostly talked about sports. They both have the same mindset and love their sports. They share their experiences with each other. Sometimes, they hear each other talk in detail about the technical side of their games.
