Mumbai police have enacted a 30-day prohibitory order, effective from September 9 to October 8, to restrict the possession of unauthorized firearms, corrosive substances, explosives, unlicensed guns, and any weapons that could potentially disrupt public peace and safety.
This order, issued by the deputy commissioner of police (operations) under various sections of the Maharashtra Police Act, aims to maintain public peace and safety within the city.
In addition to weapon bans, the order also forbids the carrying, collection, and preparation of stones, missiles, or instruments for casting or propelling projectiles. It extends to the prohibition of public utterances, songs, music playing, and aggressive speeches during this period.
Moreover, the order restricts the preparation, exhibition, or dissemination of any material, including pictures, symbols, placards, or objects that, in the opinion of any police officer in the city, may offend against decency or morality, threaten security, or potentially subvert the state.
