In a major update related to the Mumbai hit-and-run case, the deputy leader of Shinde Sena Rajesh Shah, has been detained by the police in connection with woman’s death at Maharashtra’s Palghar district.
As per mumbai officials, there are efforts to detain Sena leader’s son Mihir Shah, who is currently absconding.
Meanwhile Maharashtra’s CM Eknath Shinde called it a ‘very unfortunate incident’ and has promised an impartial probe into the matter.
Speaking to Media, he said, ‘The hit-and-run incident that happened in Mumbai is unfortunate. I have spoken to the police, and strict action will be taken as per the law. Everyone will be treated equally.’
The leader of Shiv Sena (UBT) Aditya Thackray came to Worli police station and met woman’s husband.
Taking to X, he said, ‘Visited the Worli Police Station today and met with senior police officers investigating the hit-and-run case that occurred in Worli today. I will not go into the political leanings of Mr Shah, the accused of the hit-and-run, but I hope the police will act swiftly to catch the accused and bring him to justice. Hopefully there will be no political refuge by the regime.’

So far, the Worli police has recovered and confiscated the BMW car from the Mumbai’s bandra area.

Early on Sunday on July 7, a couple from Worli’s Koliwada, were returning from Sassoon Dock after buying fish. But at around 5:30 am, their bike was hit from behind by a speeding BMW, which was allegedly driven by Shinde sena leader’s son Mihir Shah.
As a result, the vehicle overturned. Thus, throwing the couple into car’s bonnet. Somehow, the husband jumped off but the wife Kaveri Nakwa who was with heavy load was not able to jump.
Thus, she was dragged 100 metres, sustaining severe injuries. Later, both were taken to Nair Hospital.
Currently, accused father is in custody at Worli police station and another one who was there in the car Rajendra Singh is also in custody.
