The Mumbi Special CBI Count in the case observed wherein the court acquitted her then beau Sooraj Pancholi, charged with. As nearly decade after actor Jiah Khan age 26 years was found dead in her Juhu apartment.
The special bench headed by Judge AS Sayyad pronounced the judgement wherein, he in the case cited ‘paucity of evidence.’
In the present case, Sooraj being the son of actors Zarina Wahab and Aditya Pancholi. Thus, Sooraj was being arrested on 10.06.2013 which seven days after Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan found her hanging in the room. Thus, a month later, the Bombay High Court granted him bail.
The plea was moved by one Rabia wherein it is alleged foul play in her daughter’s death, High Court transferred the investigation to CBI in the year 2014. Therefore, the chargesheet was also filed in the year 2015 and has booked Pancholi with abetment of suicide but ruled out murder.
It has also been examined by the prosecution in the case that it being the case of the petitioner that Jiah had left Pancholi’s house on the morning of her alleged suicide on 03.06.2023. Thus, it has been claimed by the CBI in the case that Pancholi had hidden facts and fabricated information during his questioning.
Therefore, it has been stated in the forensic analysis of Sooraj’s statements, which being the part of the chargesheet that Sooraj was concealing relevant information about the actual reason behind the incident and the statement given
by him is fabricated and is incomplete.
Further, it has also been claimed by CBI that the that Pancholi had aided Jiah in terminating her pregnancy six months before the demise of her, an episode that had that left her an emotional wreck. Therefore, Sooraj contradicted the doctor’s statement wherein it has been claimed by him that the abortion was discussed in front of him and further denied helping Jiah pull out half of the foetus that was being stuck inside her.
However, as per CBI, Pancholi met Rabia on 18.05.2013 and she was also informed that Khan was suffering from depression and had attempted suicide.
Further, in the case it has been denied by the actor the chatting with Jiah on the Blackberry phone or living in each other’s homes. Thus, as per the witness statement in the CBI chargesheet, it being Aditya Pancholi who had asked Sooraj to delete all his chats with Jiah.
Accordingly, the court rejected the plea moved by Rabia to recall two witnesses
