In a significant development of events, Rajesh Shah has been removed from his position by order of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Rajesh Shah, the father of Mihir Shah, who is accused in the Worli hit-and-run case, appeared in court in Mumbai.

Mihir Shah, who allegedly ran over and killed a woman with his BMW in Mumbai’s Worli, was arrested by the police 72 hours after the accident. Mihir is the son of Rajesh Shah, a Shiv Sena (Shinde camp) leader and reportedly a close associate of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Mihir had been avoiding arrest since the incident early on Sunday, July 7, which resulted in the woman’s death.
