According to sources, the central government has authorized the extension of Y category security cover by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to recently inducted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Punjab, Sushil Kumar Rinku and Sheetal Angural.
The security provision, exclusively designated for Punjab, comes in the wake of Rinku and Angural’s transition from their previous political affiliations to join the BJP.Sushil Kumar Rinku, a former Member of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has gained prominence within the BJP ranks by securing a spot on the party’s list of six Lok Sabha candidates for Punjab, with a nomination from the Jalandhar reserved seat.
Intelligence inputs from the Intelligence Bureau have prompted the decision to provide Y-category security to Rinku and Angural, citing potential threats following their entry into the BJP fold.
This move underscores the significance of security measures taken by the central government in response to evolving political dynamics, ensuring the safety of newly aligned leaders in Punjab’s political landscape.
