Bharatiya Janata Party MP Manoj Tiwari has called on newly sworn-in Delhi Chief Minister Atishi to initiate an inquiry into the city’s liquor policy and investigate the revenue losses incurred by the government. In an official letter to Atishi, Tiwari emphasized the need for improvements in school infrastructure and requested reductions in electricity and water bills.
Tiwari raised specific questions regarding the liquor policy’s withdrawal and the financial impact of this decision. He noted discrepancies in school construction costs, asking why semi-permanent school structures, originally estimated at Rs. 5 lakh, were completed for Rs. 25 lakh.
Additionally, he urged immediate repairs to the roads under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), citing the poor condition of many thoroughfares. Tiwari criticized former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for damaging the city’s infrastructure during his tenure.
In his remarks following the swearing-in ceremony, Tiwari congratulated Atishi and expressed hope that she would address the deteriorating conditions in Delhi. He urged her to focus on development without hesitation, offering his full support.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Gopal Rai stated that the new government aims to continue the initiatives started by Kejriwal, particularly in controlling air pollution as winter approaches. Rai highlighted the AAP government’s achievements, including free electricity and improvements in education.
Atishi, at 43, has become the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi, following Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit. Other AAP leaders, including Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Imran Hussain, and Mukesh Ahlawat, were also sworn in as members of the Atishi-led cabinet.
