Bhopal: Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra spoke on opposition of Asaduddin Owaisi on Uniform Civil Code. He said, “Owaisi is speaking the language of the Congress and the British. The work of making the amendment in the constitution which Owaisi is citing was done by Babasaheb Ambedkar. He has always been in favor of Uniform Civil Code. In 1954 because of the British and because of Nehruji, it was said that the Hindu Civil Code was brought at that time. Rajiv Gandhi changed the decision of the Supreme Court in the Shah Bano case.”
He further added, “Owaisi had also opposed triple talaq and is now doing UCC. This is a very petty mindset. From the beginning, we were in favor of the fact that there should not be two legislations, two constitutions and two symbols in one country.”
