Farmers producing moong in the state are facing a loss of Rs 1558 per quintal. This is attributed to the online procurement hindrance. Farmers from many tehsils such as Phulera and Phagi in the district, Mozmabad tehsil in Dudu district, and Merta tehsil in Nagaur district are unable to register for the sale of their moong due to the non-receipt of online procurement.
National President of the Farmers’ Mahapanchayat, Ram Pal Jat, stated that due to administrative failure, farmers are experiencing difficulties. As a result, farmers are not receiving the declared minimum support price of Rs 8,558 per quintal for moong. Consequently, they are compelled to sell moong in the market at Rs 7,000 per quintal.
He mentioned that the ban on procurement at minimum support prices, which is more than 25% of the total production, was due to the Prime Minister’s Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan by the Central Government in 2018. The announcement of a 100% purchase under this scheme was made by the Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Amit Shah, on October 8, but due to the non-issuance of implementing orders, this situation has arisen. He informed that only 11,240 metric tons of moong production has been purchased in Rajasthan, which is not even 1% of the total production, whereas the purchase period has already been completed. This is the same situation for other crops like peanuts.
