In a proactive move, SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg initiated a safe driving campaign during foggy days, emphasizing the importance of caution on the roads. Launching the program at the Godrej Appliances Mohali parking lot, he distributed reflectors to commercial light and heavy vehicle drivers on Wednesday.
Dr. Garg underscored the significance of life, especially for drivers who are the sole providers for their families. He urged adherence to traffic rules and emphasized specific attention to advisories issued for safe driving in foggy conditions. A total of 1000 reflectors were distributed to enhance safety for drivers.The SSP advised truckers and motorists to use low-beam headlights, as high beams can reflect off moisture droplets in the fog, impairing visibility. In case of dense fog, he urged drivers to pull over to a safe parking area. Cautioning against sudden acceleration and high-speed overtaking, he highlighted the risk of becoming part of a chain-reaction collision. Maintaining a safe following distance for braking, minimizing distractions by turning off phones and music, and ensuring clear windows and mirrors were among the safety tips provided by Dr. Garg.
