The process of opening Model Fair Price Shops (ration shops) in the villages san ration depots in the district is near completion, under which 40 shops will come up by the month end.
Divulging details, the Deputy Commissioner, Mrs Aashika Jain,today, after holding a meeting with officials of various departments to review the progress of Model Fair Price Shops, said that these ration shops will be run by Markfed.
She said that the sites for shops in Hamanyupur, Samgauli, Jola Khurd, Lalru, Sangatpura, Kansala, Khizrabad, Niholka, Jhingran Kalan, Dusarna, Nanglian, Paroul, Sangala, Kubhheri, Manauli, Manana, Bahlolpur, Swada, Chadiala, Dehri have been identified the work has been started while sites identified at Rampur Sainia, Shekhpur Kalan, Karkaur, Kurda and Machli Kalan have been handed over to Markfed. Renovation work has been started at all identified places while the work is to be started at the remaining places.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, Model Fair Price Shops will be set up in an area of 200 square meters per place where Markfed will be able to sell Markfed products in addition to supplying the ration to the beneficiaries of the Smart Cards.
She asked ADC (J) Viraj S Tidke, SDM Mohali Chandrajyoti Singh, SDM Kharar Gurbir Singh Kohli, SDM Derabassi Himanshu Gupta, DM Markfed Navita Rani, DDPO Amaninder Pal Singh Chauhan and Deputy Registrar Co-operative Societies Gurbir Singh Dhillon , who were part of the meeting to visit the remaining sites soon and finalize them.
The Deputy Commissioner said that as the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann wants to bring the ration facilities available on smart ration card through these model fair price shops throughout the state to those areas which lack ration depots.
She said that Model Fair Price Shops will also play an important role in the ground implementation of the scheme of door-to-door delivery of wheat flour by the state government in future.
