In a dramatic turn of events, a man’s mobile phone saved him from a potentially fatal gunshot during a confrontation in Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area. The Delhi Police confirmed the incident, stating that the phone, kept in the man’s trouser pocket, absorbed the impact of the bullet.
The conflict stems from an earlier altercation between two families in the Cement Siding area of Punjabi Bagh. According to the police, the dispute escalated when, on October 13, Shanti, along with her son Arjun, Kamal, and brother-in-law Jitender (also known as Jatin), visited the rival family in an attempt to resolve the issue.
However, the situation quickly deteriorated, with members of the other family—identified as Satnam (also known as Lilu), Sahil, Naseeb, and Ritik—allegedly beating and chasing away Shanti and her relatives.
During the confrontation, Arjun reportedly pulled out a firearm. Encouraged by Kamal and Jatin, Arjun fired at Ritik. However, Ritik’s mobile phone, which was in his pocket, blocked the bullet, preventing any serious injury.
Delhi Police have registered two cases based on the statements and evidence collected from the scene. Several arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing to determine further details and culpability. The police are probing the exact circumstances that led to the shooting and ensuring those involved face legal action.
