Maharashtra MLA Bachchu Kadu, a part of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s government, has voiced his frustration with the BJP, an alliance partner, for its unreliability and likened their approach to that of Afzal Khan, a historical figure known for betraying Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji.
Kadu, an Independent MLA representing the Achalpur constituency in Amravati district, criticized the BJP during a tour of Hingoli, stating, “BJP approaches us like a friend, then hugs like Afzal Khan. This is not good.”
His discontent stemmed from the state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s instruction to MP Anil Bonde to “pay attention” to Achalpur, which Kadu perceived as a deliberate act to demoralize the alliance partner.
Kadu further stated, “On one hand, you make people join the government. But after joining, this kind of treatment is given. It is not good for anyone.”
Kadu, a former minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, has been disheartened about not being included in the cabinet since joining Shinde.
He emphasized the importance of honesty and maintaining the party’s image when dealing with alliance partners.
Responding to Kadu’s comments, Bawankule described Kadu as a friend and a capable alliance partner of Mahayuti. He asserted that Kadu had no problems and that they were supporting him to secure more votes in the elections.
