Students and parents are protesting against Army Public School, Shankar Vihar, after a minor committed suicide, the family alleged, due to the mental trauma given by the school authorities.
The protest will continue till the investigation is taken seriously by authorities.
It all started when a 10th-grade student damaged the school property. After the incident, the school refused to hand over the admit card to the demised. Further, he was asked to bring his parents along with a fine of Rs 10,000, however, when the student, along with his mother, visited the Principal, the higher authorities passed a derogatory remark on the family of the deceased. They also insisted he bring his father in order to collect the admit card.
As per the family, the child took the derogatory remark very seriously and same day committed suicide by hanging himself on 19 February.
When the father was giving his statement to the investigative authorities a day after the tragic incident, he was told that if the details of the admit card being withheld from the student were mentioned then the body of their son would not be given to them for the next four days.
On 21 February, when the cousin of the demised visited the school for his board examination, he received passive-aggressive gestures from the school authorities.
An official FIR was lodged on 22 February. The mother of the deceased is admitted to the hospital as she couldn’t cope with the loss.
