International Nurses Day 2024 was celebrated at the Ayurvigyan Auditorium, Army Hospital (R&R), with Maj Gen Kanwarjit Singh, Offg Commandant Army Hospital (R&R), gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. Maj Gen Sheena PD, Principal Matron, welcomed the gathering, as per a Ministry of Defence press release.

Observed annually on Florence Nightingale’s birth anniversary, International Nurses Day honors the contributions of nurses worldwide. This year’s theme, ‘Our Nurses Our Future, The Economic Power of Care,’ was unveiled by Maj Gen ID Flora, Addl DGMNS. Activities included a debate on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Nursing: Boon or a Bane’ and a panel discussion on the theme.

Eminent panelists discussed various nursing profession aspects, including challenges, empowerment approaches, leadership roles, education, digitalization in healthcare, and nurse burnout.

The Chief Guest recognized the panelists and awarded meritorious nursing officers with appreciation certificates. Capt Deepa Shajan received the Pushpnaranjan Award.

In his address, the Chief Guest encouraged maintaining the professional standards and ethos set by military nursing officers. He praised the MNS officers for their tireless work in caring for patients with compassion and empathy.
