Mercedes-Benz updates the A-Class Range in India

India’s largest luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new A 200 Limousine and the more powerful AMG A 45 S 4MATIC+ facelift in the market. Featuring the latest MBUX and New Generation Telematics (NTG7), the new A-Limousine presents itself as more intelligent, and stylish with enhanced convenience features, according to the brand. The A 200d, meanwhile will be launched in last quarter of 2023 in the market. While the new A 200 Limousine is priced at Rs. 45.80 lakh, the updated AMG A 45 S 4MATIC+ starts from Rs. 92.50 lakh, ex-showroom.

Mercedes A-Class 200 Limousine
The design of the new A Class is dominated by the forward-sloping bonnet with its two power bulges and steep ‘shark nose’. This is accentuated by the redesigned radiator grille with Mercedes-Benz star pattern. The sporty character is enhanced by externally flush wheels with new 17-inch 5 twin-spoke alloys. The car also gets new LED rear lights for a distinct look. The absolute highlight in the cabin is the freestanding dual-screen display of 10.25 inch each while the steering wheel is also revised with new touch control panels.
The car gets the latest generation of MBUX infotainment system where the driver and central displays can be customised with the help of the newly designed display styles. These include a Classic look with all relevant driver information, a Sporty feel with the dynamic rev counter and discreet with reduced content. With the activation of online services in the Mercedes me App, the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice assistant in the new A-Class is now even more capable of dialogue and learning. Now certain actions can also be triggered without the activation term “Hey Mercedes”.
The telematics system in the car has also been revised and wireless connectivity with smartphones is now possible via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The USB charging capacity has also been increased by 20% in the car. The new A-Class comes with 7 airbags with the addition of a knee airbag. Another feature to debut in the A- Limousine is Keyless-Go where the vehicle key can stay in the pocket and you don’t even need to hold it in your hand. The car recognises its owner thanks to the stored access and drive authorisation. There’s also a digital key where the vehicle can be shared by friends and family via the Mercedes me App.

The highlight of this powerful hatch is a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which produces around 420 bhp which is highest for any hatchback in India. It is also the fastest AMG hatch available across the world and does 0-100 kmph in just 3.9 seconds. Mercedes says, the AMG Speedshift DCT 8G transmission is specially tuned to the requirements of the powerful engine and contributes to the agile and dynamic character of the car. The car also gets an AMG Suspension and the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive with AMG Torque Control.
The AMG crest takes centre change as the front badge of the car. The front end is also enhanced with headlamps of a new design along with an AMG-specific radiator design. The AMG rear aerofoil meanwhile will be offered only as an accessory. The interior gets new Aluminium AMG design trim elements in black or silver while the Mercedes-AMG Performance steering wheel comes with touch control panels. You also get the new AMG-specific graphics while wireless connectivity with smartphones is now possible via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Here too the USB charging capacity has increased by 20%.
