The global fast food chain McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski has announced that layoffs will take place in April, which aims to reduce costs and “free up resources to invest in growth.”

Talking to the media CEO Kempczinski said, “Some jobs that are existing today are either going to get moved or those jobs may go away.”

Meanwhile, by 3 April the global food chain will plan to communicate its decision around layoffs.

In McDonald around 200,000 corporate staff and workers work in the global food chain.

Moreover, CEO Kempczinski issued the memo to employees and said, “Will evaluate roles and staffing levels in parts of the organization and there will be difficult discussions and decisions ahead.”

“Certain initiatives will be de-prioritized or stopped altogether. This will help us move faster as an organization while reducing our global costs and freeing up resources to invest in our growth,” Kempczinski said in a memo.

During the pandemic, McDonald’s made a lot of money as people ordered more takeout and the sales of the company surged.

“You’ve also told us that there’s more we can do. We’re performing at a high level, but we can do even better.” CEO Kempczinski.

However, in the US largest companies like Amazon, Goldman Sachs and Salesforce have already announced massive layoffs earlier.
