MCD’s secretary had asked for the permission from Election Commission of India for conducting the upcoming election of Mayor & Deputy Mayor.
The agenda of the house is titled “This meeting/Election is Subject to clearance/permission from Election Commission of India and nomination of Presiding Officer.”

As for the MCD election, both AAP and BJP have respectively chosen their candidates. AAP had chosen Ravindra Bhardwaj & Mahesh Khichi for the respective role of deputy mayor and mayor.
While BJP had chosen Kishan Lal and Neeta Bisht as its candidates. As for congress, so far it has declared its support for the AAP this mayoral elections.
The MCD elections are going to be held on 26th April 2024.
