In connection with the preparations for a nationwide strike on 16 February 2024, CMC Public Health workers held a huge rally at the Water Supply Booth Sector 15 today and announced a strike.

Addressing the rally, CMC Public Health Workers Union President Harpal Singh, Union General Secretary and Federation Vice President Rajendra Katoch, Vice President Sikander Sharma, Narendra Kumar Mishra, Union Chairman Harjeet Singh, Hanif Mohammad, UT, MC Pensioner.

Vishram’s comrades, Parsadi Lal, General Secretary of the Federation Gopal Dutt Joshi etc. while addressing the rally condemned the anti-employee policies of the Central Government, Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation officials and said that this strike will be done by repealing the PFRD Act. Restoring the old pension, ensuring all types of temporary employees like daily wages, work charge, contract, outsourced guest etc. and giving equal pay for equal work till they are confirmed, not privatizing departments and not handing over parks and green belts to private owners.

To cancel the new education policy, to immediately fill the vacant promotion and direct recruitment posts in government departments, to immediately regularize the contract and outsourced workers on the revised posts, to provide relief to the child workers working in various crèches under the Indian Child Welfare Council. And not to merge the helpers in Anganwadi and protect the salaries they are getting, to end the FIR registered against the employees of the electricity department in February 2022, to cancel the decision of the MC to give green belts and parks to private societies, to deputation.

The policy should be canceled and the employees of Punjab and Haryana working on deputation in Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation in education, health, transport, engineering etc. should be sent to their native states, and UT employees should be promoted on the revised posts and direct recruitment should be done. Daily wage, contract, out source should be regularized on posts. Central and local demands for electricity connection, immediate revision of DC rate of ICCW and MC Public Health (Kajauli) employees, abolition of section 310, 311 (2) (A) (B) and (C) of the Constitution, etc. But this is being done in protest against the negative attitude of the government and administration.

The speakers appealed to all the employee federations and unions of Chandigarh to participate in this strike in the interest of the employees and make it successful.
