Maxwell has once again showcased his unique skills tonight! Departing after this game, he’s presented his team with a parting victory gift.
Australia maintained the lead over India throughout the chase, and Maxwell›s brilliance proved crucial when the situation became tense. Head and Hardie provided a quick start, though there was a slight dip in the middle with a couple of wickets falling.
Despite the challenges, Maxwell sustained the momentum, and Wade played a crucial role towards the end. Maxwell reached his century in the final over.
Spare a thought for Prasidh Krishna, tasked with the toughest challenge of defending 21 in the last over against Maxwell. It was a high-scoring encounter with a total of 447 runs, and Australia›s victory keeps the series alive at 2-1.
Glenn Maxwell was declared player of the match for his astonishing innings.
Maxwell went on to say that it all went pretty quickly. It was hard work for them to bowl yorkers with so much dew. We didn’t really have a number in mind. Knew we would be in the game if we could take it down to the final over. Wade had to be out there to cash in with Axar having one over left towards the end. Wade was brilliant out there, the way he went helped me as well.
After the match, Jason Behrendorff said it›s remarkable; the main thing is that we got the win. I don›t have too many words at the moment after what just unfolded. It›s a happy hunting ground; I have played here twice. I haven›t gone for too many runs. It swung early on, so I took advantage of the conditions.
Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.
Like the previous two matches, Indian batsmen started their innings with flying colors, raining sixes and fours. The Australian bowlers didn’t have time to understand what was going on.
India has once again posted a formidable total, scoring around 230 in the current match after achieving a similar score in the previous game. Despite early setbacks with Jaiswal and Kishan making quick exits, SKY and Ruturaj formed a crucial partnership, adding 57 runs.
Although the captain departed, Ruturaj took charge, accelerating after reaching fifty and effortlessly securing his maiden T20I century. Ruturaj›s onslaught in the 18th and final overs, where Hardie and Maxwell conceded 25 and 30 runs, respectively, has brought India closer to a series win. Chasing 223 was not easy, but Maxwell knows how to change the complexion of the match.
