After seeing the poor performance of Australia’s batters in the first two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, 51 years old legend Matthew Hayden has said if asked, he is ready to help Australia to solve loop holes in its batting.
In the Nagpur and Delhi Test, India’s spin duo Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have picked up 32 out of 40 wickets.
Analysing the ongoing four-match series, Matthew Hayden said on a sports channel that, he would be happily his put his hand up to help Australia’s disaster against Indian spinners and he would do it for nothing in return.
To a Australian daily newspaper Hayden said, “100%, at any time of the day or night, it is a given that myself, and I am sure I speak for anyone else that I represent that would have that kind of influence would 100% be in.”
“Anytime I have been asked to do anything I have always said yes at any time of day,” he added.
Stating his clear intentions Hayden said, he would definitely not charge Australian cricket for his time with the team but wished for access to the prior generation to be granted by the regulating body to current players.
Matthew Hayden said, “You can’t alienate them. If you want the crème de la crème, the very least you can do is respect them. There should be a system if you’re in the CA role, how do we get the intellectual property in our players? That’s the key.”
