Jammu, April 02: Joint security forces have initiated extensive search operations in response to the sighting of a suspected Pakistani drone in the Arnia area, located along the Indo-Pakistan International Border. Reports indicate that the drone was observed flying approximately 2.5 kilometers into Indian territory, prompting swift action from authorities to prevent any potential threats.

The incident unfolded around 9:30 PM when locals in the Treva area of the Arnia sector reported the movement of a drone. Subsequently, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF), swiftly mobilized to the scene and commenced searches in the vicinity. Notably, this region has long been identified as a traditional infiltration route for terrorists from Pakistan, adding significance to the ongoing operation.

Senior police officials, including DySP RS Pura Nikhil Gogna and SHO Arnia Rouf Ahmad Khan, were promptly deployed to oversee the search efforts. This development follows closely on the heels of another incident earlier in the day, where a Pakistani drone was repelled in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district, situated along the Line of Control (LoC).

Sources with knowledge of the matter have indicated that security agencies possess credible intelligence regarding Pakistan’s attempts to smuggle narcotics, weapons, and cash into Indian territory using drones. These nefarious activities are believed to be part of a broader strategy aimed at destabilizing the region, particularly in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha Polls scheduled to commence on the 19th of this month.

As the search operations continue, authorities remain vigilant and committed to safeguarding the integrity and security of the border region. Further updates on the situation are expected as the investigation progresses.
