A fire broke out in a store at the Mega Khimki shopping center on Friday in the city of Khimki, which is part of the Moscow area, according to the regional division of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies,
According to the department, the fire has a surface area of 7,000 square meters, according to Sputnik. The department told the Russian news agency that paint and aerosol cans were exploding inside the store at the time of the incident.
Reportedly, thirty employees and nine units of equipment are working to put out the fire.
“The fire at 7:05 a.m. [Moscow time, 04:00 GMT] was assigned difficulty number four of five,” the press office of Russia’s Ministry of Emergencies said.
The aviation department of the ministry was put on alert owing to the incident and is prepared to help with suppression operations.
According to early reports, there are no injuries, the prosecutor’s office for the Moscow region stated on Telegram.
The office started an investigation, and it will look at whether Russian law is being followed, including in terms of fire safety.
