Arvind Kejriwal, the convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and chief minister of Delhi, stated on Monday that Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, should be awarded the Bharat Ratna for his contribution to the reform of government schools in the nation’s capital. Kejriwal criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the CBI searches on Delhi’s deputy chief minister and claimed that Sisodia and even himself could be arrested because the raids are being carried out in advance of the Gujarat elections.
“He (Manish Sisodia) reformed government schools, which other parties could not do in 70 years. Such a person should get the Bharat Ratna. The entire country’s education system should be handed over to him, but instead, they conducted CBI raids on him,” Kejriwal said in Gujarat.
“Manish Sisodia may be arrested, who knows, I may also be arrested; all this is being done for the Gujarat elections,” Kejriwal further alleged.
In his tweet today, Sisodia stated in Hindi that he had received an invitation from the BJP to join them by dissolving the AAP in exchange for the closure of the CBI and ED charges against him.
The CBI searched Sisodia’s official residence last week and conducted raids at a number of locations in relation to the alleged corruption in the execution of Delhi’s Excise Policy.
