The ethnic clashes in Manipur have deepened to such an extent that they have divided the football team as well. The Indian football team recently won the SAFF football championship for the ninth time. The team has four players from Manipur, three of whom are from the Meitei community and one from the Kuki community. They played the game unitedly, which sent a positive message to the troubled state. However, this goodwill immediately vanished when one player, Jikson Singh, wore a flag of the Meitei community during the prize distribution ceremony.

Kharge diffuses tension between Gehlot and Pilot
The Congress top leadership is again attempting to reconcile the differences between two warring leaders – Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot. As Gehlot has recently fractured his leg, he will be unable to attend the upcoming meeting in person, and will instead join virtually. In this context, the usual photo opportunity of the two leaders shaking hands will not be possible, casting doubt on how the rift between the two will be addressed. Prior to the meeting, Party President Mallikarjun Kharge narrated his own story from the Karnataka elections. In the last Lok Sabha polls, he was defeated, stating that some local leaders joined hands with the BJP against him.

J P Nadda’s meeting with Dinesh Trivedi sparks speculation
Former TMC Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi, who joined the BJP a while ago, has remained out of public view for a considerable period. Recently, however, his name has resurfaced as Party President J P Nadda invited him for a meeting as part of a party reshuffle exercise. There will be a Rajya Sabha election in West Bengal soon, and for the first time, the BJP will secure a seat from Bengal. There are many aspirants, including Swapan Dasgupta and Anirban Ganguly. If Dinesh Trivedi is nominated to the Rajya Sabha, it will send a message to other Bengal leaders that patience can lead to rewards at the appropriate time.
