A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death in northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park area on Saturday night, leading to the arrest of two suspects, police said on Sunday. The deceased, identified as Sameer, was allegedly attacked following an altercation over a previous incident where he slapped one of the accused for misbehaving with his friend’s sister.
The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday. According to police, Sameer and his friend Sohail confronted Ishan (18), one of the accused, earlier in the day after he allegedly harassed Sohail’s sister. During the confrontation, Sameer slapped Ishan. Later, Ishan gathered his friends, including Aman alias Mohd Kaif (18) and another individual named Sanam, and called Sameer to meet.
When Sameer arrived, Ishan allegedly stabbed him in the chest. Sameer, a private bus conductor and a resident of Shastri Park, sustained a single stab wound on the left side of his chest and was rushed to JPC Hospital. He was declared dead on arrival.
Police were informed of the incident at 10:40 p.m. and quickly registered a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Shastri Park police station. The two suspects, Ishan and Aman, both residents of Shastri Park, were arrested.
Authorities are working to recover the weapon used in the crime, and further investigation is ongoing, police added.
