A young person found guilty of sodomizing a 10-year-old kid in 2021 was given a 20-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) sentence by a special Pocso court on Tuesday. The boy’s statements, those of his father and younger sibling, and the medical report all aided the prosecution in establishing their case.
in January 12, 2021, the accused—who was 19 at the time of the crime—lured the youngster (10) with the promise of paying him Rs. 50, led him to a mustard field, and sexually assaulted him as the kids were playing cricket in a field in Ranika village in Nuh.
When the boy cried in pain, the youth gagged him using a cloth.
The younger brother of the 10-year-old boy, who was also playing with them, returned home and informed his father. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Nagina police station of Nuh under section 377, 506 and 34 of IPC and Section 6 of the Pocso Act.
The 10-year-old identified the accused in court.
According to public prosecutor Akash Tanwar, the accused had sexual relations with the victim. Judge Narender Pal of the Additional Sessions Court (Pocso Act) found the boy guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in prison. He was also fined Rs 22,000. The minor was also given compensation of Rs 2 lakh by the court.
