A Russian tourist’s unsettling experience at Delhi’s India Gate has sparked public outrage, drawing attention to the harassment visitors often face at popular tourist spots in India. A viral video shows a man persistently disturbing a foreign woman, trying to coerce her into dancing despite her visible discomfort. The video captures the Russian tourist taking a photo when Sachin Raj, a dancer, approaches her and attempts to involve her in a dance. Ignoring her evident unease, he continues to pressure her, forcing her to eventually flee. Her distressed parents underscored the serious breach of personal space. Despite the girl’s clear discomfort, the man kept filming for social media.

The video, which has garnered millions of views, has ignited a debate over filming people without their consent. Rather than offering an apology, the man shared the video on Instagram and disabled the comments section to avoid criticism. This incident has raised concerns about its potential impact on tourists’ perception of India.

Sachin Raj has uploaded several videos of himself dancing near tourists at India Gate. One user commented on the video, saying, “Arrest him, he’s harassing foreigners, must check his other reels.” Several users also tagged the Delhi Police in the comments on his videos. Last year, a similar incident occurred when another Russian tourist was harassed by a petrol pump employee in Jaipur. The tourist was traveling with her Indian friend, a Delhi-based travel vlogger known as ‘On Road Indian’ on YouTube. The harassment took place while the worker was filling petrol in their two-wheeler. The YouTuber documented the entire incident, filming as soon as he noticed the worker misbehaving with his Russian friend sitting behind him.
