A man has been arrested for allegedly setting his neighbor’s car on fire in the Lajpat Nagar area of South Delhi, following a parking dispute. The incident occurred late on Saturday night, November 30, 2024, and the accused was tracked down 600 kilometers away in Uttar Pradesh after an FIR was filed against him.
The main suspect, identified as Rahul Bhasin, reportedly had ongoing arguments with his neighbor, Ranjeet Chauhan, regarding parking issues. Following one such altercation, Bhasin, along with two accomplices, decided to vandalize Chauhan’s vehicle. CCTV footage captured the entire incident, showing Bhasin and his friends exiting their car and smashing the windshield of Chauhan’s vehicle around 10 PM. One of the men was seen pouring an inflammable liquid on the car’s bonnet before igniting it, after which all three fled the scene.
This was not the first instance of vandalism by Bhasin; he had previously damaged the side mirrors of Chauhan’s car during an earlier dispute, which also resulted in a police report being filed against him.
In response to the incident, the police assembled a team to locate and apprehend Bhasin and his accomplices. Utilizing technological surveillance methods, they tracked the suspects to near Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, where they were arrested. So far, a total of seven individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the case, according to police reports.
