Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, departed for Madrid, Spain on Tuesday to take part in a three-day business summit. “We are going to Spain after 5 years,” CM Mamata Banerjee said as she boarded the plane. Spain participated in the Kolkata Book Fair as a partner. Spain has a thriving manufacturing sector. They have invited us, so we are going. Let’s see what can be accomplished.

Bengal Business Summit is scheduled to be held on November 21-23.
“Spain officials have visited Bengal many times but we have not reciprocated in the same way. So I am leaving for Spain. In Dubai also we have a business summit,” she further added.

The Chief Minister hoped that the business summit in Spain would be successful. Dhupguri Town in the Jalpaiguri District will receive the status of a subdivision by the end of 2023, CM Banerjee earlier declared on Monday. TMC won the assembly byelection for the Dhupguri seat last week. In a close race, Nirmal Chandra Roy of the Trinamool Congress defeated Tapasi Roy of the Bharatiya Janata Party by 4309 votes. Nirmal Chandra Roy received 97,613 votes, compared to 93,304 for the BJP candidate. The CPI-M ran a candidate for the position as well, who came in a distant third.
