In another major success, security forces in a joint operation foiled an infiltration attempt on the Line of Control in Machil Sector and five terrorists have been eliminated in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation in response to intelligence input.
The Indian Army reported that the security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration bid, with the Jammu and Kashmir Police confirming the elimination of five terrorists in an ongoing encounter.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, “The operation began in the Machhal sector based on specific information provided by Kupwara Police, resulting in the elimination of five terrorists. The operation is still underway, and more details will follow as it progresses.
The bodies of the terrorists have been recovered from the operation site, along with a substantial cache of arms and ammunition which include AK series rifles, pistols and a large quantity of arms and ammunition. However, the security forces remain vigilant, as there may be more terrorists concealed in the vicinity. The Indian Army initiated the joint operation with JKP and intelligence agencies, successfully foiling the infiltration bid along the Line of Control in the Kupwara sector on October 26, 2023. As a precaution, the entire Line of Control in North Kashmir has been placed on high alert following the operation.
Prior to the onset of winter in the Kashmir valley, terrorists from across the border often attempt to infiltrate before the mountain ranges become impassable due to snow. Infiltration attempts tend to rise during this period.”
