A fast-track court in Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh) has sentenced a woman and her lover to rigorous life imprisonment in connection with the murder of her husband. Simultaneously, another accused has been acquitted due to a lack of evidence.
Additional District Judge Chetana Chauhan has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the two individuals who were convicted, namely Premlata and Bablu.
Government prosecutor Mukul Raizada disclosed that Gavendra, also known as Neelu and aged 30, a resident of Nagla Kirat locality within the Kotwali police station area, was strangled to death on the night of December 5, 2015. This heinous act was committed by his wife, Premlata, who is also known as Pinki with the assistance of her lover, Bablu, aged 28, while Gavendra was asleep.
During this gruesome incident, Gavendra and Premlata’s children, Umang (5) and Aradhna (3), were unfortunate witnesses to the crime.
Gavendra’s father filed a police complaint against Premlata, Bablu, and his friend Sarvendra, accusing them of murdering his son. Subsequently, an FIR was registered based on this complaint, leading to the arrest of the three suspects. The police proceeded to file a charge sheet against them in court, as explained by Raizada.
Upon careful consideration of the evidence presented, notably the testimony of Gavendra’s son, the court found Premlata and Bablu guilty of the crime. However, Sarvendra was acquitted due to insufficient evidence against him, according to Raizada.
